Didn’t know that actor David Lander, who played Squiggy on Laverne & Shirley, had Multiple Sclerosis. He’s had it for 37 years, but it seems his death was related to it in some way.
His famous catchphrase on the show was “Hello!”
Lander died of complications related to multiple sclerosis, which he battled for 37 years. Since he went public with his diagnosis in 1999, Lander has worked closely with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, speaking out about his experience at related conferences.
David Lander Dead: ‘Laverne & Shirley’ Actor Was 73 – Variety
Squiggy was a fun side character. Sort of like the ultimate goofy gang sidekick. On Happy Days, which I believed Lenny and Squiggy’s characters crossed over a few times (please correct if you know otherwise in the comments), they were a little bit like Potzi and Ralph.
Here are a collection of Lenny and Squiggy “hello” clipped scenes from YouTube.
These guys cracked me up in the show, many times. Laverne & Shirley might have been the leads, but these two actors brought their own charm and dimension to the show.
If there is any bright side to 2020, it’s that you are in good company with other famous people that have died (see: The List of Talented Entertainment People Dying In 2020 Continues: Sean Connery RIP at 90)
RIP in David Lander.
