Episode 7 – “The Line”

Starts with weekly coffee time with Harley and the Queen of Fables (I thought this time was reserved for Harley and Poison Ivy?). The Queen is about to be released from the tax code book, her prison for 30 years, because it’s deemed “cruel and unusual punishment.”

Harley’s primary focus remains getting into the Legion of Doom.

Once The Queen is converted back into human form, Gotham authorities plan to lock her up in Arkham Asylum. Harley and her crew of Clayface, Dr. Psycho and King Shark to the rescue!

Harley’s crew planning a diabolical mission. And yay, a confirmed Frank the plant sighting!

Back to the lair to plan a new mission, which you’ll have to watch to see what that entails. From here on out, it’s SPOILER territory.

I don’t give away all the plot ruining the entire episode, but enough is shared (it’s only 22 minutes long) that you probably want to watch the episode before reading on. At the end of this post I rank all seven episodes of the first season available as of this writing.

… you have been warned SPOILERS after here …

You back? Ok … onward…

The Queen of Fables can pull out past fairy tale characters from her wondrous book. ROFLMAO on Humpty Dumpty being pulled magically from The Queen of Fables book and then cracked open, whipped and cooked.

One of the best jokes in the series yet! Was laughing at The Queen whipping with the egg yoke with her fierce staff. Small, side scenes like the one below are what make Harley’s series shine. Reminds me of The Simpsons and brings additional jokes that can be missed until rewatched.

Kite Man shows up with roses for Poison Ivy. Yay! I knew it, these two are a side romance.

“You do realize that’s like a dozen baby heads,” said Poison Ivy to a dozen long stem roses

Why you need to watch Episode 7 – “The Line”

Watch to see how the mission turns out, if Harley and her crew get into the Legion of Doom, if the Queen of Fables goes off with more and what type of fairy tale creations, how and/or if Kite Man’s date turns out … and much more!

This is how to put together 22 glorious minutes of high quality adult animated story.

Episode and Series Thoughts Through the First 7 Episodes

This is the return to form and shows the kind of regular weekly episode we might come to expect. Sooner or later in the show it has to settle into being about some recurring goal.

It (might?) be a hilarious mission by Harley’s crew to enact some bad deed in/around Gotham City. Similar to how The Mandalorian took on side missions. This gives viewers a mini-mission storyline to focus on and yet new DC comics characters can be introduced and explored interacting with Harley.

Some other brief highlights of episode 7 include: a ravenous storybook Big Bad Wolf! Queen of Fables using the eye socket of a recently murdered corpse as an ashtray. Kite Man trying to explain to a restaurant maitre’d how important he is while Ivy is in rolling incognito. Love this episode. It’s my second most favorite one next to the first episode.

Overall episode rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½

Season 1 Episode Ranking (through first 7 episodes)

  1. S1:E1 – Til Death Do Us Part ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  2. S1:E7 – The Line ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (current episode)
  3. S1:E2 – A High Bar ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½
  4. S1:E4 – Being Harley Quinn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  5. S1:E5 – Finding Mr. Right ⭐️⭐️⭐️½
  6. S1:E3 – So You Need a Crew ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  7. S1:E6 – You’re a Damn Good Cop, Jim Gordon ⭐️⭐️½

So far, only one of the seven episodes (S1:E6) isn’t recommended. The first season of Harley Quinn is off to a great start. Six more episodes left of season one. Season two has already been greenlit.
