As much as I’ve enjoyed several Martin Scorsese films including his newest The Irishman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on Netflix, he sure makes some nutty quotes:
“I thought about it a lot over the last four years, ‘Joker,'” Scorsese, 76, said. “I decided I didn’t have the time for it.”
Martin Scorsese almost directed ‘Joker’: ‘I didn’t have the time for it’ | Fox News
You have to watch the entire BBC interview in context to fully appreciate his quote.
Riddle me this, Batman: what took him four years?
Was it because Joker is a comic book character … is that his beef? Did he feel that if he directed Joker, it would somehow negatively impact his directorial legacy? He defines that comic books are a “different thing” than superhero films, perhaps still trying to clarify why he likens them to theme parks. I don’t get it.
Worse, what decision takes four years to make? It seems like the decision itself is what there is no time for when it take four freaking years.
365 days x 4 = 1,460 days
So it takes 1,460 days to say yes or no to directing a movie? Hmm, agree at least partly with Scorsese. Decisions like these, especially when one is 76 years old, who has time?
Somebody please keep Uncle Marty directing movies, then he won’t have time to make any more bizarre statements during interviews. His time is better utilized behind the director’s chair.
