NOW PLAYING REVIEWS: Terminator: Dark Fate, Harriet, Motherless Brooklyn, Arctic Dogs

Want to know what we recommend seeing that opened this 11-01-2019 weekend #44 at the movies? All wide releases were seen, rated and reviewed with links on the movie titles below.

Terminator: Dark Fate ⭐️⭐️½ – Fancy action scenes with a new model Terminator, an essentially old retell of T1 & T2, not a lot of screentime for returning Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger and three newcomers we’e supposed to care about (and only one is halfway convincing). Add this up and it equals a disappointing concoction.

A very somber ending to a perhaps permanently tarnished action franchise. The early box office returns are underwhelming. Perhaps the audience is tired of the subpar sequel train?

Harriet ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – The true story of courageous anti-slavery hero Harriet Tubman who escapes slavery herself and then returns to help others escape. Entertaining and engaging. Recommended.

Motherless Brooklyn ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ -Private eye potboiler murder mystery with a detective played by Edward Norton that has Tourette’s. Alec Baldwin and William Dafoe co-star. There is a bit part by Bruce Willis, too. A few scenes that aren’t paid off making for a longer journey to get the end. Still, recommended.

Arctic Dogs ⭐️⭐️½ – Marginally entertaining animated film about a young fox who wants to become the “Top Dog” delivering packages around the land. Animation is subpar, acting OK, script is understated. Not recommended.

Overall Summary

Harriet and Motherless Brooklyn are both recommended. Don’t waste your time seeing Terminator: Dark Fate or Arctic Dogs.
